Empathy Map

What is Empathy Map?

An Empathy Map is a tool used to gain a deeper understanding of users by visualizing their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. It typically consists of four quadrants: Says, Thinks, Does, and Feels. By filling out each section based on user research and observations, teams can develop a more nuanced understanding of their users’ experiences and pain points.

Empathy Maps are often used in the early stages of design and development to inform user personas, journey mapping, and problem definition. They help teams step into the users’ shoes, fostering empathy and aligning product decisions with real user needs. Empathy Maps encourage a user-centered approach, guiding teams to design solutions that resonate with their target audience.
